I sometimes get calls following registration from someone saying, "I got online ten seconds after registration opened and couldn't get a site. You obviously let all of your friends register ahead of time. No one could possibly have registered and gotten a site in 10 seconds. This is rigged."
No, it isn't rigged. Here's how it works.
Think about Black Friday. A store advertises 25 TVs on a special sale. When the doors open, the first 25 people to put a TV in their cart get them. While they're on their way to the checkout, there are no more TVs on the shelf. Should someone change his mind, his TV goes back on the shelf and someone else can get it.
Same here. The first 25 people to select a ticket and hit "Buy Tickets" have a ticket in their carts. They then have 20 minutes to register and pay, a process that usually takes about five minutes or so. At that time, a message comes up saying, "All tickets are currently being purchased." If someone registering changes his mind, backs out of the registration site, or runs out of time, that ticket goes back on the shelf and is available. Once all of the registrations are completed for a particular type of ticket, a standby list becomes available, and you can add yourself to it.
Here's a tip: If there are no more tickets for RV with 2 Adults, select both "RV with 1 Adult" and "Additional Adult," then hit "Buy Ticket." The price is the same.
