Registration update 4/18 11:55 am

Here’s where we are

We’ve been working with EventBee, and they have determined that they have the data for the transactions that did not receive confirmations yesterday.

We have confirmed transaction by transaction that the list of orders that EventBee is holding match exactly the list of transactions that were blocked by the credit card processor.  We’ve reviewed them with EventBee and will be instructing them to release confirmations in the order that the transactions were received.

Here’s how and why the backlog occurred

We learned yesterday (the hard way) that our credit card processor has a filter on its system to detect extraordinarily heavy activity from a single site.  We had over 500 transactions in less than an hour after registration opened (meaning that we were on track to sell out in somewhere between an hour and a half to two hours).

We exceeded the threshold and triggered the filter to shut down processing so that the site could determine, through manual approval from us, whether the transactions were legitimate, or whether the site was being spammed or hacked.  We reviewed the situation with them, had the filter removed, and had the transactions approved.

Once the filter was lifted, people were able to get in and start placing orders and having them filled, while confirmations had not yet been sent.  Seeing that, I made a decision to shut down the registration site to be sure that people weren’t able to purchase tickets that had been paid for but not yet confirmed.  We wanted to be sure that sites weren’t double booked.

Here’s what it means

  • ·        IF YOU ORDERED A SITE AT THE FROG RALLY, YOU WILL HAVE A SITE.  I shut down registrations yesterday to ensure that, and it is still shut down right now.
  • ·        If you went in and created a second (or a third and in at least one case a fourth) transaction, those will be processed.  We’ll contact you to see which transaction(s) should be cancelled / refunded.
  • ·        If you ordered tours, we BELIEVE that they are intact, but if someone got in during the brief period before I shut down the site, it’s POSSIBLE that some tours might be affected.  We’ll review these individually and contact you if we see any issues.

Once the dust settles, we'll announce when registration will re-open for approximately 200 remaining sites.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.  We’ll keep you posted.
